Opposition Lawmakers Accuse Pro-Wike Lawmakers of Trying to Disrupt Rivers LG Elections Foll0w us on our Facebook page A group of opposition lawmakers has accused lawmakers loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of trying to disrupt the upcoming local government elections in Rivers State. At a press conference in Abuja, Rep. Ikenga Ugochinyere (PDP – Imo State) said these lawmakers were making illegal moves to stop the elections and block the implementation of the 2025 Rivers State budget, despite a Supreme Court ruling. According to him, the pro-Wike lawmakers want to change the Local Government Administration Law so that former local government chairmen—whose tenure has ended—can return to office instead of allowing new elections. “They don’t want the election to happen because they want the former LGA chairmen to continue in office.
