Rivers APC to Fubara: Resign or Face Impeachment

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara to step down or face impeachment by the House of Assembly.

At a press conference in Port Harcourt on Monday, APC state chairman Tony Okocha said the governor had committed several impeachable offenses, as highlighted by a Supreme Court ruling.

Okocha stated that there was no need for the assembly to form a panel to investigate the allegations since the Supreme Court had already revealed them.

He insisted that Fubara has only two choices: resign willingly or be removed from office.

The political tension in Rivers State has been growing, with APC leaders insisting that Governor Fubara can no longer remain in office due to alleged constitutional violations.

Okocha further emphasized that the Supreme Court’s judgment had already made it clear that the governor had committed serious offenses, making impeachment inevitable if he refuses to resign.

Meanwhile, supporters of Fubara argue that the impeachment threat is politically motivated, aimed at destabilizing his administration. They believe the governor should be allowed to continue his tenure without interference.

As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on the Rivers State House of Assembly to see whether they will proceed with impeachment proceedings or if Fubara will step down voluntarily.
