Afe Annang Unhappy with Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’sSenator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Suspension, Defends Akpabio

Afe Annang, a leading socio-cultural group from the Annang Nation in Akwa Ibom State—where Senate President Godswill Akpabio comes from—has expressed dissatisfaction with the Senate’s decision to only suspend Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

At a press conference in Abak Local Government Area, the group’s leader, His Majesty Obong Blaise Awakama, stated that they believe Akpoti-Uduaghan should be recalled or replaced by her constituency, Kogi Central. He added that her actions were inappropriate for a senator.

The controversy began when Akpoti-Uduaghan protested a change in her Senate seat, which was part of a routine adjustment after some senators switched political parties. She claimed the move was discriminatory and even suggested it involved sexual harassment by Senate President Akpabio.

Obong Awakama dismissed these allegations, arguing that the seat change was a normal Senate procedure. He warned against any attempt to remove Akpabio from office, saying that Afe Annang and the Annang people would not allow such a plot to succeed.

He emphasized that Akpabio is not only representing his home state but the entire country as Senate President, and they fully support him against any political attacks.
