Inspector General of Police Directs Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, to Restore Law and Order After Local Government Secretariats Are Burnt

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has issued a directive to the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State to take immediate steps to restore law and order in the state. This follows a series of incidents where some local government secretariats were set ablaze by hoodlums, creating tension and instability in the affected areas.

Reports from Rivers State indicate that the destruction of these governmental institutions has escalated concerns about the growing lawlessness and unrest in the state. The burning of the secretariats, which are vital for local governance and service delivery, has disrupted the operations of local governments, leaving citizens in distress.

In response to these incidents, IGP Egbetokun emphasized the need for decisive action by law enforcement authorities to prevent further damage and ensure the safety of lives and property. He urged the Commissioner of Police to deploy all necessary resources to apprehend the perpetrators and restore calm to the troubled areas.

The IGP stressed the importance of upholding the rule of law and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protect citizens and maintain peace across the country. He warned that any individuals or groups found to be responsible for the acts of arson would face the full wrath of the law.

In the meantime, police presence in Rivers State is expected to increase as part of heightened security measures aimed at preventing further attacks and safeguarding critical infrastructure. The public has been urged to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies as efforts to restore normalcy are intensified.

This directive from the IGP is seen as part of broader efforts to address rising insecurity in certain parts of Nigeria and to reassure citizens that the government is taking swift action to maintain peace and stability across the nation.

The EFCC Obtains Arrest Warrant For Yahaya Bello

     His Excellency Yahaya Adoza Bello, the formal governor of Kogi State. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday was granted a warrant by a Federal High Court in Abuja to apprehend Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State. The warrant was issued following an ex parte motion filed by the EFCC. In his ruling on the motion, Justice Emeka Nwite also directed that the former governor be produced before him on Thursday, April 18, for arraignment.
